Our tour itinerary includes a mix of group activities and free time to relax and explore on your own, so you never feel rushed. What you can expect is exceptional food and wine, stunning landscapes, an insider’s perspective on local culture, and the company of like-minded travelers!
Portugal Tour Itinerary
DAY 1 – Arrive in Lisbon and transfer to your boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Meet your tour leader in the afternoon for an introductory walk around the neighborhood and later enjoy a group welcome dinner with wine. (included meals: dinner; overnight: Lisbon 1 of 4)
DAY 2 – After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head out for a day trip to Setubal where we’ll visit three different vineyards for wine tastings, accompanied by local meats and cheeses. Tonight, dinner is on your own at one of the many excellent local restaurants. (included meals: breakfast, lunch; overnight: Lisbon 2 of 4)
DAY 3 – Today we’ll take the train to the neighboring town of Sintra, one of the most picturesque villages in Portugal. We’ll meet our local guide for a walking tour that includes the iconic Pena Palace. We return to Lisbon in the afternoon and for dinner tonight, we’ll join a local cook in her home for a very special 3-course meal with wine. (included meals: breakfast, dinner; overnight: Lisbon 3 of 4)
DAY 4 – We’ll spend our day in Lisbon, beginning with a walking food tour with a local guide who’ll introduce us to some regional specialties like pasteis de nata, Portugal’s signature egg custard tart. After an afternoon to explore the city on your own, we’ll meet up for a group dinner at a favorite restaurant. (included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner; overnight: Lisbon 4 of 4)
DAY 5 – Today we leave Lisbon and head south to the Algarve region. We’ll stop in a picturesque town for lunch on the way before arriving at our destination, the coastal town of Lagos. After checking into our 4-star hotel (with pool), we’ll enjoy a group dinner with local wine. (included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner; overnight: Lagos 1 of 3)
DAY 6 – After breakfast, our driver will pick us up at the hotel for a full day tour of this stunning part of Portugal. Our stops will include a market in the quaint fishing village of Loulé, a winery tour and farm lunch, and visits to the quaint villages of Tavira and Cacela Velha. Tonight we’ll return to Lagos for dinner on your own. (included meals: breakfast, lunch; overnight: Lagos 2 of 3)
DAY 7 – After a free morning to relax by the hotel pool or explore Lagos on your own, we’ll head to nearby Ponta da Piedade for a guided excursion to the famous caves. Tonight, we’ll meet up for a special group farewell dinner with wine in Lagos. (included meals: breakfast, dinner; overnight: Lagos 3 of 3)
DAY 8 – Today we bid adeus to Portugal and return to Lisbon for our flights home. (included meals: breakfast)
